Knowing that the FMC should auto follow the plan, I must determine what I'm doing wrong or consider that there is some type of software problem, be it in the install of either FSX or the 747, or perhaps a problem with fsuipc or simconnect.Jim Jones If you find it necessary to manually adjust altitude and more importantly speed, then I suspect you may not be following normal procedures. Thanks for your response, Paul. There is no reason to make any other adjustment unless you chose to. At a minimum, if the FMC is correctly programmed, the MCP altitude needs only to be set to cruising alt, and then to ILS capture alt. I am open to correction but I believe all Boeing FMC's behave this way. The same applies on descent phase except that the MCP represents the lowest level the FMC is allowed to guide to. The pilot can then dial in FL400 and the FMC will guide VNAV upto the programmed F元60. The FMC will follow the programmed VNAV up to the pilots limit of FL200. So for example, a pilot may have a depature programed with various climbs and pauses up to F元60, and then dials FL200 into the MCP. The FMC will manage the programmed VNAV as long as it does not exceed the pilots stated intentions (expressed via the MCP).
